Royal Robes

While I was away at the missionary conference in France a lot happened at my church here. They too had a summer conference, but theirs was in Wales. Just days before they went on the trip they discovered that over half the people coming to the trip were not believers, so around 40. They changed everything in the schedule last minute to accommodate their new found needs. The week that followed was a time of spiritual awakening. 19 Iranians came to faith and five more were baptized. The following is one of their stories:

“Martha” had been going to our church for some time now. You could always pick her out because she was one of the few in the church that wore her hijab, the Muslim hair covering for women. She did not speak any English and with the cultural contexts at work I was never really at liberty to talk with her. Today at church she stood up after the service and asked for prayer. She had a dream a few days earlier of a tall man bending down and covering her ailing body with a thick royal robe. At first she said, “Sir, this robe is too heavy. I can not keep it.” As she was saying this she noticed that she was no longer hungry or thirsty, in fact the she was feeling completely healthy and with out need. In the vision/dream she turned to a Muslim friend of hers and offered her the same robe. Her friend replied, “No. It is too heavy I could never wear it.” At that moment she knew that the robe belonged to Jesus. She then saw in the dream the pastor’s wife whom pressed upon her three times, “The person you saw was Jesus! The person you saw was Jesus! The person you saw was Jesus!” She woke up and gave her life to Christ that day.

This week she now has to go back to Iran. Pray for “Martha” as this new creation goes back to the Muslim regime that would rather not have her.

Also pray for my time there. Some of the students I am working with genuinely do not like me and I have not figured out why. It may be my nationality or it could just be that I accidentally did some stuff on the soccer field that made them made, either way, when two or three of ten kids do not like you it makes it hard to avoid.
